**UPDATES**

Fatal Crash Investigation *ARREST – On September 27, investigators from the Prince William County Crash Investigation Unit obtained warrants for the driver of the 2006 Chevrolet Express Van involved in the fatal crash which occurred in the area of Bent Grass Dr and Waverly Farm Dr in Haymarket on September 23. The accused, identified as Norma Guadron CANALES, turned herself into police without incident at the Western District Station in Manassas later that afternoon.

Charged with reckless driving and driving without a license

Fatal Crash Investigation– On September 23 at 6:42AM, investigators from the Crash Investigation Unit responded to the area of Bent Grass Dr and Waverly Farm Dr in Haymarket (20169) to investigate a single vehicle crash. The investigation revealed that the victim was riding on a mattress which was placed unsecured on top of a 2006 Chevrolet Express Van. While the van was traveling northbound on Waverly Farm Dr just south of Bent Grass Dr, the mattress and the victim separated from the top of the van. The victim was later pronounced dead at the scene. Speed and alcohol do not appear to be factors in this crash. The driver of the van remained at the scene of the crash. Charges are pending for the driver of the Express Van. The investigation continues.

Commercial Burglary *ARREST – On September 23, detectives from the Property Crimes Unit identified and arrested one of the suspects involved in the burglary of the Food Lion located at 5227 Waterway Dr in Dumfries on September 21. The accused was arrested without incident. The investigation continues.

Commercial Burglary [Previously Released] – On September 21 at 1:20AM, officers responded to the Food Lion located at 5227 Waterway Dr in Dumfries (22025) to investigate an alarm activation. When officers arrived, the front glass door was found shattered by a piece of concrete. A witness reported seeing three unknown suspects carrying a large duffel bag fleeing the business prior to officer’s arrival. A police K-9 was used to search for the suspects and located the duffel bag containing stolen property from the Food Lion in some nearby woods. The suspects were not located. The investigation continues.
Suspect Descriptions:
One black male and two males of an unknown race, between 15 & 18 years of age
1st suspect was last seen wearing glasses, a t-shirt, and black pants
2nd suspect was last seen wearing grey and black hoodie and blue pants
3rd suspect was last seen wearing grey sweatpants, black shirt, and black shoes

Armed Robbery *ARREST – On September 12, detectives from the Violent Crimes Bureau arrested one of the suspects, identified as Shaheed M COSTON, involved in the robbery which occurred in the 2600 block of Prince William Pkwy in Woodbridge on September 1. The investigation continues.

Armed Robbery [Previously Released] – On September 1 at 2:19AM, officers responded to the 2600 block of Prince William Pkwy in Woodbridge (22192) to investigate a robbery. The victim, a 23-year-old woman of Antioch CA, reported to police that she met up with a known male acquaintance in the Tysons Corner area of Fairfax County earlier in the evening. The two parties then traveled to Prince William County and went to a restaurant off of the Prince William Pkwy near Crossing Pl. After leaving the restaurant, the victim and the male acquaintance went to a parking lot of an area hotel nearby. While in the parking lot, two men emerged from the wooded area near the hotel and approached the victim and the male acquaintance. During the encounter, the men brandished handguns and demanded property from the victim. The victim was able to flee to a business where she contacted police. The suspects took the victim’s cell phones and purse sometime during the struggle. No injuries were reported. A police K-9 was used to search for the suspects who were not located. This incident does not appear to be random.

**INCIDENTS**

Indecent Exposure – On September 27 at 3:36PM, officers responded to the 6400 block of Oakland Ct in Woodbridge (22193) to investigate an indecent exposure. The victim, a 16-year-old male juvenile of Woodbridge, reported to police that he was playing basketball in the above area when he was approached by an unknown man driving a late model white Honda or Hyundai sedan. During the encounter, the man spoke with the victim then exposed himself and made an obscene gesture. The suspect never exited the vehicle and did not approach the victim. The suspect then drove away and the victim contacted police. The investigation continues.

Black male, in his early twenties, with a heavy build and medium length black curly hair
Last seen wearing a white shirt, jeans, and glasses

Residential Burglary – On September 27 at 11:14AM, officers responded to an apartment located in the 2800 block of Woodmark Dr in Woodbridge (22191) to investigate a burglary. The homeowner reported to police that the burglary occurred between 9:30PM on September 26 and 11:14AM on September 27. The investigation revealed that there were no signs of forced entry into the apartment. A gaming console with games, cell phone, and iPad were reported missing.

Residential Burglary – On September 26 at 6:11PM, officers responded to a residence located in the 4800 block of Cavallo Way in Woodbridge (22192) to investigate a burglary. The homeowner reported to police that the burglary occurred between 8:30AM and 6:00PM. The investigation revealed that entry was made into an attached garage of the residence through the garage door which was left open. No entry was made into the main residence. An air compressor and tools were reported missing.

Residential Burglary – On September 26 at 1:30PM, officers responded to a residence located in the 7500 block of Kimberton Ct in Manassas (20111) to investigate a burglary. The homeowner reported to police that the burglary occurred between 8:30AM and 11:30AM. The investigation revealed that there were no signs of forced entry into the home. Entry is believed to have been made into the residence through an unsecured window. A gaming console, clothing, and jewelry were reported missing.

Residential Burglary – On September 25 at 6:20PM, officers responded to a residence located in the 7900 block of Meadow Ct block in Manassas (20109) to investigate a burglary. The homeowner reported to police that the burglary occurred between 11:10AM and 8:00PM. Entry was made into the residence through a window which was damaged. A drain to a bath tub was plugged and the water left running causing it to overflow resulting in extensive water damage to the interior of the house.

**ARRESTS**
Sexual Assault Investigation–
On September 23, detectives from the Special Victims Unit responded to investigate a sexual assault which was reported to have occurred at a residence located in Woodbridge (22191). The investigation revealed that the victim, a 6-year-old girl, was sexually assaulted by the accused, an acquaintance, on more than one occasion since 2013. The victim recently disclosed the assaults to a family member who contacted police. Following the investigation, detectives obtained warrants for the arrest of the accused, identified as Edgard Hernesto CRUZ. On September 27, CRUZ was located and arrested without incident leaving a residence in Woodbridge by members of the U.S. Marshals’ Fugitive Task Force.

Malicious Wounding– On September 26 at 8:43PM, officers responded to a residence located in the 13800 block of Barrymore Ct in Gainesville (20155) to investigate a domestic assault. The investigation revealed that the victim, a 19-year-old woman of Manassas, and the accused, identified as Ivan Dustin ORTEGA, were involved in a verbal altercation which escalated. During the encounter, both the accused began physically assaulting each other. At some point, ORTEGA punched the victim in the face breaking her nose and knocking her to the ground. The victim then grabbed a pair scissors and stabbed the accused in the arm in an effort to get away from him. The parties eventually separated and the victim contacted the police. Minor injuries were reported. Following the investigation, the accused was arrested.

Assault & Battery on a Law Enforcement Officer [LEO] – On September 28 at 1:00AM, officers responded to a residence located in the 2400 block of Brook Moor Ln in Woodbridge (22191) to investigate a domestic assault. The investigation revealed that the accused was involved in a verbal altercation with a family member. During the encounter, the accused punched the family member in the head. The parties eventually separated and police were contacted. Following the investigation, officers arrested the accused. While escorting the accused to a police cruiser, he became increasingly agitated and began to resist. During the encounter, the accused spit in the face of an officer.  The accused was eventually detained without further incident. Following the investigation, the accused was arrested.

Charged with assault & battery on a LEO and domestic assault & battery: 3rd or subsequent offense

Assault & Battery on a Corrections Officer – On September 23 at 5:20PM, officers responded to investigate an assault on a corrections officer which occurred at the Prince William-Manassas Regional Adult Detention Center located at 9320 Lee Ave in Manassas (20110) earlier that afternoon. The investigation revealed that the accused was being disruptive while making a phone call. When an officer took the phone away, the accused spit on the officer. No injuries were reported. Following the investigation, the accused was arrested.
