CoConstruct, a web-based project management system for custom home builders and remodelers, plans to invest $485,000 to expand its IT operation in Albemarle County near Charlottesville, according to a news release from Governor Ralph Northam. The expansion will create 69 new jobs, whose needed skills were not specified in the news release.
“The Commonwealth’s technology infrastructure and top industry talent are invaluable assets to companies of all sizes, and CoConstruct’s impressive growth is a testament to the quality of our IT workforce,” Governor Northam was quoted as saying. “CoConstruct is a great entrepreneurial success story for Albemarle County, and we are proud that this young company is expanding and creating 69 well-paid jobs in Virginia.”
Founded in 2004, CoConstruct provides custom home builders and remodelers with web-based and mobile apps to streamline the home-building process. The company focuses on simplifying the key areas of selections, scheduling, change orders, client/vendor communication management, to-do and warranty item management, files and photos, and more.
Brian Ball, Secretary of Commerce and Trade for Virginia, was quoted as saying, “Albemarle County boasts a renowned education system and quality of life that attracts and retains a brilliant workforce, and CoConstruct is one of many small businesses thriving in Central Virginia. Creating 21st-century jobs remains critical in our efforts to strengthen the Commonwealth’s economy, and we are honored to support innovative companies like CoConstruct.”
CoConstruct Founder and CEO Donny Wyatt said he and his wife relocates to Albemarle County “because of the great quality of life—outdoor activities, top-ranked schools, and cultural opportunities.”
Wyatt added, “And when our experience building a home prompted the idea for CoConstruct, it was only natural to want to establish the company here. As we rapidly grow our team, we leverage those same benefits of the area to help us import talent from across the country.”
The news release went on to point out that the Virginia Economic Development Partnership will support CoConstruct’s new jobs through its Virginia Jobs Investment Program (VJIP). VJIP provides consultative services and funding to companies creating new jobs or experiencing technological change to support employee training activities. As a business incentive supporting economic development, VJIP reduces the human resource costs of new and expanding companies. VJIP is state-funded, which underscores Virginia’s commitment to enhancing job opportunities for its citizens, the news release said.
