Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries (DGIF) has issued an advisory to the public about websites claiming to sell Virginia fishing licenses.
DGIF reminds anglers that http://www.GoOutdoorsVA.com and www.dgif.virginia.gov are the only official websites where Virginia fishing and hunting licenses and permits can be purchased.
Anglers who have a smart phone can access the http://www.Go Outdoors Virginia mobile app for license purchases.
DGIF said in a news release that on some of the sites it is aware of customers have reported completing transactions believing they were buying a license or permit, when, in fact, they purchased an informational guide.
View hunting and fishing digests online or pick up a copy wherever licenses are sold.
To see a list of all license vendors, check the DGIF website at https://www.dgif.virginia.gov/licenses/
If you need more information, call DGIF at 804-367-1000 or for general questions go to http://www.dgifweb@dgif.virginia.gov
