PWC police report alleged stabbing April 4 in Haymarket determined to be self-inflicted

Malicious Wounding *UPDATE – Upon further investigation into the alleged stabbing that was reported to have occurred in the 6600 block of Hunting Path Rd in Haymarket on April 4, detectives from the Violent Crimes Bureau were able to determine the victim’s injury was self-inflicted and that the alleged encounter with two men never occurred. The victim has since been transported to an area hospital for mental health treatment. After consultation with the Commonwealth Attorney’s Office, no charges will be placed in this case.

Malicious Wounding [Previously Released] – On April 4 at 12:35AM, officers responded to the 6600 block of Hunting Path Rd in Haymarket (20169) to investigate a stabbing. The victim, a 33-year-old man, reported to police that he was outside of his residence in the above area when two men approached him from behind. During the encounter, one of the men pulled out a pocket style knife and swung it towards the victim. At one point, the victim was stabbed in the lower body. The suspects then immediately fled on foot. No words were exchanged between the suspects or the victim during the incident and no property was taken. The victim was transported to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries and has since been released. This incident does not appear to be random. The investigation continues.
Suspect Descriptions:
Two white males, both between 20 & 25 years of age, 5’8”-5’9” with full beards
One of the men was last seen wearing a camouflage sweatshirt and jeans
No clothing description reported for the second man

**INCIDENTS**

Residential Burglary – On April 5 at 4:05AM, officers responded to a residence located in the 1900 block of Partree Ct in Woodbridge (22191) to investigate a burglary. The investigation revealed that the burglary occurred sometime between 7:30AM and 10:30PM. Entry was made into the home through a basement level sliding glass door that was found damaged. A laptop was reported missing.
