A whiz with money and ideas! Cline gets top honors for innovating and improving “school business”

David Cline, Associate Superintendent for Finance and Support Services for Prince William County Schools, has received the 2017 Distinguished Eagle Award from the Association of School Business Officials International (ASBO).

The award recognizes Cline as a visionary K-12 leader who maximizes resources so teachers can teach and students can learn, according to a news release from Prince William County Schools.

He has successfully guided PWCS using resourcefulness, flexibility, and innovative thinking. During his tenure, Cline has opened at least one, and often more than one, new school every year on time and within budget; implemented GPS on school buses to improve parent communication; and launched grab-and-go and second-chance breakfast programs to address student nutritional needs.

The Eagle Awards, the highest honor in school business, recognize and celebrate school finance leaders who have improved student achievement and enriched their communities. Cline will receive a $2,500 scholarship to present to a high school student.

Cline has served as associate superintendent for Finance and Support Services since 2008. He joined Prince William County Public Schools in 1989 as director of Finance.
