The public is invited to learn about and provide input on two important initiatives tonight, Dec. 14, at the Virginia Department of Transportation’s District Office in Fairfax.
There will be an open house, a town hall meeting on prioritizing transportation projects in the region, and a public hearing to receive formal comment on the Atlantic Gateway projects.
Join VDOT and Commonwealth Transportation Board members Wednesday, Dec. 14, at 4975 Alliance Drive, Fairfax, VA 22030.
Open House begins at 6 p.m.
Review the list of 62 proposed projects that have been submitted by local and regional governments in the Northern Virginia District for scoring through the SMART SCALE prioritization process. The applications total approximately $3.28 billion in funding requests. For more information, visit http://www.vasmartscale.org.
The Town Hall Session starts at 6:30 p.m. to discuss projects and ask questions.
The Public Hearing for Atlantic Gateway begins at 7 p.m. Learn more and provide formal comments on the Atlantic Gateway proposed highway, rail and transit improvements along the I-95 corridor. For more information, visit http://www.atlanticgateway.net .

Scoring results will be posted, and following public meetings in the spring, the Commonwealth Transportation Board will use public feedback and the scoring data to select which projects to fund and include in the next Six-Year Improvement Program by June of 2017.
