What every parent should know about bullying - special meeting April 11 at Benton Middle School

Bullying won’t disappear by itself….it takes everyone working together. Prince William County Public Schools invites parents to this special session April 11 at Benton Middle School that will equip them with knowledge and resources to prevent and respond to instances of student bullying.

Respected mediator and bullying prevention trainer, Bob Garrity, from Charlottesville, will be on hand to deliver practical tips and suggestions for parents on how to communicate with their child about bullying.

PWCS staff will share details on strategies that have for many years and at many levels, been provided to students and staff to help them recognize, report, and prevent bullying of any kind, including cyber bullying and sexual harassment.

State law, PWCS policy and regulation, and the PWCS Code of Behavior define bullying.

Bullying is not an isolated behavior, but part of a continuum that includes teasing, taunting, bullying, harassment, hazing, and physical aggression.

The level of aggression will increase, if not addressed early and firmly.
