New school named for fallen firefighter; old school gets a new name
New “Ferlazzo” site school will be Kyle R. Wilson Elementary. Current Godwin Middle School will be renamed the Dr. George M. Hampton Middle School.
A unanimous School Board decision brought together camps that had argued to name the new Elementary School in honor of their respective heroes.
Prince William County Firefighter Wilson lost his life during a fire rescue incident in 2007.
Hampton is known for 46 years of Prince William County community leadership, service in the armed forces, establishing educational scholarships and being a role model to many.
