VDOT crews on through A.M. rush hours as icy patches remain; drivers urged to be cautious

While sleet and freezing rain taper off overnight, Virginia Department of Transportation crews will continue to treat northern Virginia roads with salt and sand into the Monday morning rush hour. VDOT asks drivers to remain mindful of icy conditions, to be cautious, stay alert and to allow some extra time for their a.m. commutes.

What drivers should know:
·      Bridge deck and pavement temperatures are not expected to rise above 32 degrees until after 10 a.m. Monday
·      Extra caution is needed on ramps, overpasses, curves, hills, and lower-traffic roads
·      Expect a wide range of road conditions to impact travel including black ice, slush and road spray.
