Martin-Brower plans Manassas facility, creates jobs

Food distributor Martin-Brower is planning to expand in Prince William County, according to a county press release. The company intends to consolidate its local two local facilities and its workforce of 202 employees, add an additional 65 full-time employees and invest $32.2 million in new facilities to be constructed on Randolph Ridge Lane in Manassas.
Corey Stewart, chairman of the Prince William Board of County Supervisors, said the county welcomes the company’s expansion, saying “we are pleased that they chose to remain a valued member of our business community. We look forward to working with them in the future as they continue to prosper and grow.”
The company chose Prince William for its “quick access to our customers throughout the Baltimore-Washington market,” James V. Reyes, of Reyes Holdings LLC, the parent company of Martin-Brower, said in the statement.  In addition, he said factors such as “cost of doing business, quality of life for our employees, land availability and the advantages of the County’s streamlined development process” impacted the company’s decision.
Stewart touted the county’s “reputation as an ideal community in which to live, work and play.”
Construction should start in August; the new facility is expected to be occupied in August 2012.
