Police arrest juvenile, 15, in May 21 shooting of girl, 9, playing with friends in Woodbridge

On May 26, 2022, the suspect sought in connection to the shooting that occurred in the 15300 block of Gatehouse Ter. in Woodbridge (22191) was arrested, according to Master Police Officer Renee Carr, public information officer for the Prince William County Police Department.
Carr said that while investigating, detectives identified one of the males in connection to the shooting. Following the investigation, the suspect was identified as a 15-year-old male juvenile who was located earlier today in the Woodbridge area and taken into custody without incident.

Shooting Investigation *REWARD OFFERED [Previously Released] – Detectives with the Prince William County Police Department"s Violent Crimes Bureau are continuing their efforts to locate the suspects in connection with and determine the events that led up to the shooting that occurred in the 15300 block of Gatehouse Ter. in Woodbridge (22191) on May 24, 2022. Further investigation has revealed that four males, believed to be juveniles, were walking on Gatehouse Ter., one of them fired multiple shots towards a silver sedan that was driving by. The rounds struck the sedan and struck the unintended victim, a 9-year-old girl, who was playing with her friends on the opposite side of the street. The girl was flown to an area hospital where she remains in critical condition. The suspects were described as teenaged black males wearing dark clothing. Through a partnership with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, a $5,000 reward is being offered in connection to the arrest and conviction of the suspect involved. The Police Department is also offering up to an additional $5,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest and conviction in this case. The investigation continues.

Shooting Investigation [Previously Released] – On May 24 at 6:41PM, officers responded to the 15300 block of Gatehouse Ter. in Woodbridge (22191) to investigate a shooting with injuries. Upon arrival, officers located a 9-year-old girl suffering from a gunshot wound and utilized trauma kits to administer first aid until rescue personnel arrived on scene. The victim was flown to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries where she remains in critical condition. The investigation revealed that a group of males, possibly juveniles, were walking in the area when one of them fired multiple rounds. Detectives have initially determined that the victim was not the intended target of the shooting. The rounds also struck an occupied vehicle driving in the area and the front door of a home. No additional victims or property damage were reported. Detectives are actively investigating the incident to determine what led up to the shooting. The suspects were described as teenaged black males wearing dark clothing. Preliminarily, the incident does not appear to be random and there is no active threat to the community.  The investigation continues.
