A funeral service for Bernard Oliver Ames, 88, of Manassas who died peacefully on Monday, July 25, 2016 will be held at First Baptist Church, 9258 Center Street, Manassas, on Monday, Aug. 8, at noon.
Visitations will be held on Sunday, Aug. 7, from 3 to 9 p.m., at Ames Funeral Home, 8914 Quarry Road, Manassas, and on Monday, Aug. 8, f rom 10 to 11:45 a.m. at First Baptist Church, 9258 Center Street, Manassas.
Interment will be at Rose Hill Cemetery in Manassas.
Mr. Ames was born on March 2, 1928 and founded Ames Funeral Home on July 8, 1959. He had been serving the community for 57 years at the time of his death.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Helen E. J. Harmon Ames. He is survived by his son Bishop Dr. Malcolm O. Ames (Debra), three grandchildren Malcolm Jamal (Erica), Daniel and Ayana Ames; three great grandsons; many other relatives and friends.
