Suspect charged with assault & battery on LEO in Woodbridge

Assault & Battery on a Law Enforcement Officer [LEO] – On Sunday, Dec. 29 at 6 p.m., Prince William County police officers on proactive patrol were in the 14000 block of Jefferson Davis Hwy. in Woodbridge (22191) when they encountered a woman, later identified as the accused, according to MPO Renee Carr, police department spokesman. Officers initiated a conversation and observed the accused appearing to be under the influence of alcohol. The accused was taken into custody and, during a subsequent search, the accused actively resisted.

During the encounter, the accused grabbed the officer and refused to follow the officer’s commands. After a brief struggle, the accused was secured inside of the police cruiser without further incident. While searching the accused, suspected marijuana was located in her possession. Minor injuries were reported by the accused. No injuries were reported by the officer.

Following the investigation, the accused, identified as Deserie Melinda WARTHEN, was arrested.

Charged with assault & battery on LEO, obstruction of justice, intoxicated in public and possession of marijuana
