Manassas Police arrest man in March 29 shooting spree

On Friday, March 29, 2019, at approximately 12:14 p.m., officers of the Manassas City Police Department responded to the area of Wellington Rd and Ashton Ave for a report of reckless driving and a subject with a gun.

A caller stated a white GMC SUV displaying Virginia tag VXP-5176 was driving recklessly and an occupant of the vehicle was waving a gun in the air. The vehicle was observed turning off Wellington Rd onto Hampton Ln.

A witness then reported observing a subject reach a hand out of the vehicle and fire shots from a black gun at a vehicle parked on the 9300 block of Taney Rd.

Further investigation revealed multiple vehicles had been damaged as a result of being shot. The damage observed on the vehicles was consistent with damage caused by a BB gun projectile. No persons were injured as a result of the firearm being discharged.

The vehicle and occupants were located and stopped by responding officers nearby in the area of Byrd Dr and Bragg Ln. During a search of the vehicle, two machetes and a BB gun were located.

Through investigation, the police report said, the suspect was identified as Kevin MIRANDA GIRON, and he was taken into custody without incident. MIRANDA GIRON was charged with five counts of destruction of property, five counts of discharging an air gun within City of Manassas limits, and two counts of carrying a concealed weapon, according to the police report.

MIRANDA GIRON was held on a $10,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on May 9, 2019.
