New American Roots Series - country and bluegrass music - begins Oct. 6 at Hylton Center

Hylton Performing Arts Center now will be offering the “best of bluegrass, folk, country, and blues in up-close and down-home concerts.”  Four concerts in the new “American Roots Series” will be presented by F.H. Furr Plumbing, Heating, Air Conditioning & Electrical with additional sponsors Anna and Randall Edwards, United Bank and NOVEC as part of the Hylton Center’s 2017-2018 season.

Annie Stokes and Charm City Junction will kick off the series beginning Friday, Oct. 6, at 8 p.m.

Rick Davis, Executive Director of the Hylton Performing Arts Center, was quoted in a news release as saying, “The American Roots Series celebrates and explores a wide range of musical styles—all of which have a few things in common: feelings run deep, fingers move fast, and harmonies soar. From established names to the stars of tomorrow, this series offers superb talent in a relaxed setting. I’m thrilled that we are able to bring such a terrific lineup to the Hylton Center.”

According to the Hylton news release, “the American Roots Series originated from audience feedback and patrons’ consistent requests for performances by country and folk artists.” With generous local support, the Hylton Center will offer this new series to meet the desires of its immediate community.

The Hylton concerts will be performed in the Gregory Family Theater, a small flexible space that allows attendees an intimate experience with their favorite artists. It also offers a more casual environment where audience members can eat and drink while enjoying the show.

Besides Annie Stokes and Charm City Junction, other artists featured in the inaugural American Roots Series are:

• Northwest roots and blues duo Ben Hunter and Joe Seamons on Nov. 9 at 8 p.m.

• Canadian folk-fusion group Ten Strings And A Goatskin on Feb. 17 at 8 p.m.

• and Grammy®-nominated progressive bluegrass band Frank Solivan and Dirty Kitchen on April 20 at 8 p.m.

The Gregory FamilyTheater is located in the Hylton Center at 10960 George Mason Circle, Manassas, VA 20110. Individual tickets to American Roots Series performances are $25 in advance and $30 performance day. A series package of all four performances is also available at $80 per person.

Series packages and tickets to individual performances are available for purchase in person at the Hylton Center Ticket Office ( Tuesday-Saturday 10 a.m.-6 p.m.), by calling 888-945-2468, or through the Hylton Performing Arts Center website at HyltonCenter.org.
