Haymarket couple’s ‘Cook in Tuscany’ tour winner of Travel Weekly’s 2016 Magellan Award

Cook in Tuscany, a culinary experience tour in this region of Italy, was named winner of the 2016 Magellan Award for Best in Europe for Culture and Arts by Travel Weekly, a premiere travel magazine.

Tour owners George and Linda Meyers of Haymarket host their worldwide guests on cooking tours in authentic Tuscan kitchens, and guide guests on personalized Tuscan historic tours and truffle hunts.

The Magellan Awards is the premier award for the travel industry, which honors the best in travel and is judged by a 14-member panel.  The Travel Weekly Magellan Awards honor the best in travel. 

“We love what we do, bringing the authentic Tuscan flavors and history to our guests,” Linda Meyers, co-owner of Cook in Tuscany, was quoted as saying in a press release. “We’re honored to be selected by Travel Weekly for our dedication to travel culture and arts,” said Meyers.

Retired United States Air Force pilot, George Meyers and his wife, Linda, now a retired Prince William County school teacher, regularly enjoyed trips to their favorite travel spot, Tuscany. Over time, these trips became Cook in Tuscany, a culinary travel destination, where guests from around the globe can cook alongside Tuscan cooks, not taught in culinary schools, but from their Tuscan mothers and grandmothers.

Natives of New Orleans and high school sweethearts, the Meyerses shared a long-time passion for good food.
