Steven Burke, PE has been selected as the Director of Public Works for the City of Manassas. He will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of all City of Manassas Public Works activities, including the Street Department, Traffic Controls, Vehicle Maintenance, Buildings and Grounds, Cemeteries, Horticulture, Stormwater and Trash and Recycling programs, according to Patty Prince, Communications Manager.
Burke comes to the City with more than 20 years of experience in local government, first in Pinellas County, Fla. and then in Front Royal, Va. During his tenure at Front Royal, Burke served as Town Engineer, Interim Director of Planning and Zoning, Director of Public Works, and Director of Environmental Services. In 2010, Burke was selected as Town Manager, where he was responsible for 174 employees serving 15,038 residents.
Burke has a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Florida and is a member of the International City/County Management Association (ICMA) and the Virginia Local Government Management Association. Burke will begin his career with the City of Manassas on Nov. 28, 2016.
