Homicide victim found April 29 near Cotton Mill Rd. in Lake Ridge identified

Homicide Investigation *VICTIM IDENTIFIED – On May 6, detectives from the Homicide Unit received confirmation that the victim located on April 29 near a drainage ditch in the area of Cotton Mill Rd and Griffin Ave in Woodbridge was Lizeth Yadira LOPEZ.

Detectives are currently working in conjunction with the Medical Examiner’s Office to investigate the results of the autopsy which was completed on May 2. 

At this point, no suspects have been identified or arrested in connection with this investigation. The investigation continues and additional information will be released once it is made available. This was Prince William County’s 5th homicide of 2016.*

Homicide Investigation [Previously Released] – On April 29 at 10:56AM, officers responded to the area of Cotton Mill Dr and Griffith Ave in Woodbridge (22192) to investigate a found body. Officers arrived in the area and located the body of an adult woman presumed to be Lizeth Yadira Lopez, 36, who was reported as missing and endangered on April 19. The body was located near a drainage ditch in the above area and was transported to the Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy. At this time, the death is being investigated as a homicide and more information will be released when available. The investigation continues
