Are you looking for a way to get rid of personal documents? NBC4’s next Community Shred is scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 12, 8 a.m. to 11 a.m., at the Manassas Campus of Northern Virginia Community College.
Shredding is the easiest way to prevent identity theft so bring your old bank statements and other private documents to dispose of them safely. There is a five-box maximum for each car.
To keep the event safe, organizers ask that you not bring batteries, flammables, combustibles, electronic equipment (hard drives), media materials (DVDs, CDs, tapes), binders or hanging files.
This year local food banks SERVE and ACTS will be collecting nonperishable items to help fill a growing need during the holidays. The organizations are asking people coming to the event to bring a nonperishable food item or toiletry to donate. Collection bins will be on site.
NOVA-Manassas is at 6901 Sudley Road, just north of I-66. From Sudley Road, turn onto Battleview Parkway and follow the signs to the shred line. The line will open at 7 a.m. and cars must be in line on Nova Way by 11 a.m.
For safety reasons, organizers have requested that people remain in their vehicles. No business vehicles are permitted.
Community Shred is sponsored by Allstate and Shred-it. Prince William County Solid Waste Division is assisting with the event at NOVA-Manassas.
