Ashton Avenue opened to through traffic between Crestwood Drive and Lomond Drive Nov. 17 as crews finished replacing a damaged culvert earlier than anticipated., according to the Virginia Department of Transportation.
The road has been closed to through traffic since Oct. 26 and was expected to reopen Nov. 18.
Drivers were asked to continue to avoid the area, take alternate routes to minimize impacts or use the posted detour:
Traffic on Ashton Avenue was detoured via Lomond Drive, Route 234 Business onto Crestwood Drive.
VDOT signal engineers are monitoring traffic and adjusting signal timing as needed.
Ashton Avenue carries about 20,000 vehicles per day.
