Shoe sale via Snapchat goes awry; purchaser ends up in hospital; suspect arrested in Woodbridge

Armed Robbery – On September 5 at 8:22PM, officers responded to the area of West Longview Dr. near the Prince William Pkwy in Woodbridge (22191) to investigate a robbery. The victim, a 27-year-old man, reported to police that he made arrangements to purchase shoes from an unknown seller via “Snapchat” near the above location.

The victim followed the suspect into a nearby apartment to conduct the sale where the suspect brandished a knife and demanded his money. When the victim refused, the suspect struck and kicked the victim. The parties separated and the victim contacted an acquaintance who took him to an area hospital where police were notified. The victim reported significant injuries.

During the investigation, detectives were able to identify the suspect as Pasindu Parinda Geethanjana KUDALIGAMAGE and obtained warrants for his arrest. On September 6, the suspect was located at his home where he was taken into custody without incident. Following the arrest, a search warrant was conducted at the home where evidence in connection to the robbery was located.

Pasindu Parinda Geethanjana KUDALIGAMAGE, 23, of 4128 Cardinal Crest Dr. in Woodbridge
Charged with robbery and malicious wounding
