Supervisor Jeanine Lawson: Public’s input needed by Sunday, July 23 on NVTA Action Plan

“Congested roads continue to affect our daily lives and transportation decisions will impact all of us.  The Northern Virginia Transportation Authority (NVTA) task is to plan, prioritize and fund regional transportation programs through analysis and community involvement.  I encourage you to review the list of projects in their Draft TransAction Plan and give your input.  The public comment time will close on July 23 at midnight.”

The NVTA decided to keep the infamous Bi-County Parkway in their plan.  It is well known that the pushers of this roadway are real estate developers. This project, if approved will:

∙Increase, not reduce, traffic in Prince William County
∙Lead to increased residential development in our rural areas
∙Permanently change the historic Manassas Battlefield Park
(closing Rt. 234 and Rt. 29 that run through the park)
∙Bring increased truck traffic through our major roadways

These points are exactly why in March of 2016, I presented a resolution to remove the Bi-County Parkway from the County’s Comprehensive Plan.**  I believe we should prioritize transportation by spending funds on projects that will truly relieve congestion and commute times.

The NVTA needs to hear from Prince William County residents. Email - .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address)
