Lake Ridge Rotary’s Flags for Heroes Nov. 11 at county complex

Lake Ridge Rotary invites the community to its first Flags For Heroes event on Veterans Day, Nov. 11, at the County’s 9/11 Memorial Park next to PW Parkway. There are a few flags still available for sponsorship, with proceeds going to veterans in need. See for more information.

An “All Veterans Muster” will take place early in the morning at 4:30 a.m. on Nov. 11. Lake Ridge Rotary will honor fellow Veterans at the exact time that Europe is recognizing the cessation of hostilities 100 years later in an All Hands Toast at 5 a.m. If you are a Veteran, you are invited. Take your own coffee for the toast.

Please go by and look for Lake Ridge Rotary’s 100 Flags honoring 100 Years of Armistice/Veterans Day. The public event will begin at 10:45 a.m. and will conclude around 11:15 a.m.  Moments of silence will take place near 11 a.m.

At 11 a.m. on the 11th day of the 11th month in 1918 the guns of WWI fell silent in a bow to peace. Lake Ridge Rotary will honor this historic event at 11 a.m. on Nov. 11 beneath this incredible display of flags that are flying to honor our many veterans who have served this country from the beginning.

Parking is available at the county center overflow parking lot adjacent to the memorial. Elderly and disabled in need of a ride can contact .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address).

Both events are rain or shine.
