If you have an opinion on a Prince William County matter but can’t make the supervisors’ meeting…

Speak Up! Prince William is a new program that provides an opportunity for residents to have their voices heard in local government from the convenience of their homes.

Four years ago, Gainesville Supervisor Pete Candland says he “brought forward a proposal that the County develop a method to allow residents to comment on Board of County Supervisor agenda items without having to travel to the other end of the county to attend the meetings.”

All have very busy schedules and cannot always get to the county offices to speak at citizen’s time. Residents can now comment through the online site - Speak Up! Prince William. The comment period will close one hour prior to the start of the Board of Supervisors’ meeting allowing supervisors time to see all comments. Visit the county website and register at

The site encourages posts that are made in a respectful manner. The county reserves the right to delete any submissions that contain:

• Vulgar language, including graphic, obscene, explicit, racist or sexist comments
• Personal attacks of any kind
• Abusive, hateful or slanderous comments to any person, ethnicity, religion, organization or nation
• Spam
• Comments clearly off topic
• Comments that suggest, endorse or encourage illegal activity
• Promotion, solicitation or advertisement of particular services, products or political organizations
• Infringement of copyrights or trademarks
• Personally identifiable or sensitive information, including medical information
