Racial slurs and “KKK” written in suspicious graffiti chalked in Haymarket

Suspicious Incident – On September 28 at 5:30PM, officers responded to the 16000 block of Pitner St. in Haymarket (20169) to investigate suspicious graffiti.

The caller reported to police that inappropriate words were written in chalk on the community basketball courts sometime between 3:00PM on September 26 and 12:00PM on September 27. The words appeared to be racial slurs and included the letters “KKK”.

No suspicious persons or vehicles were reported in the area around this time. The words did not contain any threats and did not appear to target anyone specific in the neighborhood.

The chalk was removed without causing permanent property damage. The investigation continues.
