PWC Police Beat - K9 corners suspect in attempted armed robbery in Manassas

**UPDATES**

Strong Armed Robbery *ARREST – On October 20th, detectives from the Robbery Unit identified one of the suspects involved in the robbery which was reported to have occurred Graham Ct and Graham Park Dr in Triangle on October 17th. Following the investigation, detectives obtained a warrant for the arrest of this suspect, identified as 16 year old male juvenile. This suspect was eventually located and arrested without incident. The investigation continues.

Strong Armed Robbery [Previously Released] – On October 17th at 2:13PM, officers responded to the area of Graham Ct and Graham Park Dr in Triangle (22172) to investigate a robbery. The victim, a 16 year old male juvenile of Dumfries, reported to police that he met two known acquaintances in the above area to sell some belts. During the encounter, the two suspects struck the victim in the face causing him to fall down. The suspects then took the victim’s belts before fleeing the area on foot. The victim was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries. A police K-9 was used to search for the suspects who were not located. This incident was not random.  The investigation continues.

**INCIDENTS**

Reckless Handling of a Firearm – On October 20th at 2:28PM, officers responded to the 14200 block of Smoketown Rd in Woodbridge (22193) to investigate a shots fired call. The caller reported to police that multiple gunshots were heard in the above area.  Officers checked the area and located several shell casings nearby. No injuries or property damage were reported.

Residential Burglary | Grand Larceny Auto – On October 20th at 9:15AM, officers responded to a residence located in the 100 block of Calvert St in Woodbridge (22191) to investigate a burglary. The homeowner reported to police that the burglary occurred between 2:00AM and 6:00AM. The investigation revealed that there were no signs of forced entry into the residence. Entry is believed to have been made into the home through the front door which was found open. The caller’s 2002 black Ford Explorer with VA tags KEV6036 and keys were reported missing.

Residential Burglary– On October 20th at 8:38AM, officers responded to a residence located in the 8400 block of Mineral Springs Dr in Manassas (20112) to investigate a burglary. The homeowner reported to police that the burglary occurred between 12:30AM and 7:15AM. The investigation revealed that an unknown suspect entered the victim’s unlocked vehicles parked in front of the residence and retrieved a garage door opener.  The suspect opened the garage door and entered the residence through an unlocked interior door. A cell phone and laptop computer were reported missing.

**ARRESTS**

Malicious Wounding | Strangulation | Abduction | Domestic Assault & Battery – On October 19th at 12:06PM, officers responded to an apartment located in the 10900 block of Coverstone Dr in Manassas (20109) to investigate a domestic. The victim, a 30 year old woman of Manassas, reported to police that she and the accused, a known acquaintance, were involved in a verbal altercation which escalated. During the encounter, the accused grabbed the victim and began to choke her then cut her in the hand with a knife. The victim was eventually able to get away from the accused by jumping from a second story window then contacted police. Minor injuries were reported. Following the investigation, the accused was arrested without incident.

Attempted Armed Robbery – On October 20th at 1:26PM, officers responded to an apartment located in the 10500 block Lariat Ln in Manassas (20109) to investigate a burglary in progress. The investigation revealed that a suspect entered the home armed with a handgun. During the encounter, the victim, a 21 year old man of Manassas, was able to grab a knife and chase the suspect from the apartment.  The suspect fled the area without taking any property and police were contacted. A police K-9 was used to search for the suspect who was located nearby and detained without incident. Further investigation revealed that the parties were known acquaintances. No injuries were reported.  Following the investigation, the accused were arrested.

Antoine Maurice WRIGHT, 22, of the 10500 block of Lariat Ln in Manassas
Charged with attempted robbery and use of a firearm in commission of a felony
Court Date: November 24, 2015 | Bond: Held WITHOUT Bond

Malicious Wounding – On October 17th at 2:45PM, officers responded to a residence located in the 12600 block of Dulcinea Pl in Woodbridge (22912) for a service request. The caller requested assistance from officers retrieving items from the above residence. When officers arrived, the victim, a 48 year old man of Woodbridge, reported to police that he and the accused, a known acquaintance and friend of the caller, were involved in a verbal and physical altercation prior to police arrival. During the encounter, the accused got into his vehicle and drove over the curb onto the adjacent grass striking the victim before driving away from the scene. The accused eventually returned and was detained by officers without incident. Minor injuries were reported. Following the investigation, the accused was arrested.
