Prince William seniors can get books delivered to their doors with Meals on Wheels

Prince William Area Agency on Aging Meals on Wheels program and the Prince William Public Library System are partnering to bring books and audio books to a senior citizen’s door when meals are delivered. Patrons may request up to 3 items of interest from the library on delivery; 2 books and 1 DVD, or 1 book, 1 DVD and 1 audio book.

Items will be delivered and may be kept up to 3 weeks.  To return an item, simply place it in your delivery bag and give it to your Meals on Wheels volunteer. 

Meals on Wheels are a nutrition support program provided by the Prince William Area Agency on Aging. This program is available for persons 60 or older who live in Prince William County and the cities of Manassas and Manassas Park, who are homebound and who are unable to easily prepare meals or shop for groceries and who have no one to regularly help with preparing nutritious meals.  A spouse and/or dependents caring for a person with disabilities are also eligible to receive meals.

The Meals on Wheels program provides a noon meal each weekday between 11:00 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. that meets 33 1/3 of the Dietary Reference Intake.  Regular diets and limited special diets may also be available.
