Patriot HS teacher selected for national faculty for new Pre-AP theatre program

As the only performing arts teacher, out of the 75 teachers chosen, Patriot High School’s Kathryn Facemire will contribute as the visual and performing arts expert for the new program currently in development. She will guide the creation of content and, this summer, will lead workshops for the teachers who will pilot the new program across the country in the upcoming school year.

“I am extremely passionate about the literature and history that I teach in my classroom. The Pre-AP program philosophy provides me a fantastic platform upon which to build accessible and teachable content for educators like myself, who are always looking for a way to strengthen the connections between their classrooms and the world their students experience every day,” she was quoted as saying in a news release.

. “Helping teachers understand how to approach teaching theatre arts is a tremendous opportunity. Sometimes the process is more important than the product. Judgment and criticism are necessary learning tools to build confident, capable, independent artists.”
