Man reports he almost had his wallet lifted at hotel in Gainesville

Attempted Strong-Arm Robbery – On October 8 at 12:18AM, officers responded to the Hampton Inn located at 7300 Atlas Walk Way in Gainesville (20155) to investigate an initial report of a disorderly person.

Officers arrived at the location and spoke to the victim, a 29-year-old man, who reported that he was in the lobby of the hotel when he was approached by an unknown man, later identified as the accused. During the encounter, the man attempted to remove the victim’s wallet from his back pocket.

An employee of the hotel called police. Officers arrived on scene and detained the suspect, identified as the accused, without incident. No injuries were reported, and no property was taken. Following the investigation, the accused, identified as Mohsan MAHMOOD, was arrested.
