Kaine & Warner report funding for 20 housing units for homeless veterans in PWC

U.S. Senators Mark R. Warner and Tim Kaine announced $883,881 in federal funding from a collaborative program between the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). The funding will help homeless veterans find affordable and stable housing.

“Our nation’s veterans have sacrificed so much in service to our nation, and we owe them our support as they make the transition to civilian life,” the Senators said. “We’re pleased to announce this funding to help those who have served get access to safe and affordable housing.”

The funding will be awarded as follows:

Prince William County Office of Housing and Community Development will receive $231,204 for 20 housing units. This is the second largest single award.

Fairfax County Redevelopment and Housing Authority will receive $304,980 for 25 housing units. This is the largest single award.

Other awards are for five housing units in various Tidewater localities as well as Richmond, Roanoke, Petersburg and Danville areas.

The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development-VA Supportive Housing (HUD-VASH) program combines rental assistance voucher programs for homeless veterans administered by HUD with case management and clinical services provided by the VA. according to the news release.
