A U.S. Navy veteran from Haymarket assumed a national leadership position in the 2.4-million member American Legion, the nation’s largest veterans organization.
Ronald A. “Ski” Miluszewski was sworn in as national sergeant-at-arms during the Legion’s 95th National Convention in Houston on Aug. 29.
Miluszewski is a member of American Legion Post 139 in Arlington where he served in every office of the post including post commander for 5 terms.
He has held positions at the district, department (state) and national levels including district and department commander. He served on the National Security, Economics, and Homeland Security Committees and the Employment Sub-Committee.
After serving as a Hospital Corpsman in the Navy from 1967 to 1972, he worked at the Virginia Hospital Center in Arlington for 40 years, serving as Director of Admissions and Manager of Outpatient Laboratory Services prior to his retirement.
He is the recipient of the Dr. Frist Humanitarian of the Year award from the Hospital Corporation of America and named a member of the Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels.
He and his wife, Linda, have two daughters, Jennifer Gregory and Tracey Royall, and eight grandchildren.
Miluszewski will serve a one-year term as The American Legion’s sergeant-at-arms.
He took the oath of office after being appointed by National Commander Dan Dellinger.
He is one of 12 national officers.
