Haymarket family to host lemonade stand June 9 to raise funds, awareness for childhood cancer

In an effort to raise funds and awareness for the fight against childhood cancer, the Dixon family of 6651 Hunting Path Road, Haymarket, is hosting a lemonade stand on Saturday, June 9 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., with the goal of raising $400 during Lemonade Days.

The lemonade stand is in honor of Ethan Dixon, who has leukemia, and will benefit childhood cancer research through Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF), according to a news release from the foundation.

“Once my son was diagnosed with leukemia, I started researching ways we could help him and other children,” said Sabrina Dixon, Ethan’s mom. “I checked out the ALSF website and saw the Lemonade Days would be the same time as our neighborhood yard sale, so I thought we could combine them.”

Ethan and his two brothers will help manage the lemonade stand. The Dixon family hopes to raise $400, which will fund about a day of childhood cancer research. For more information or to donate, visit Ethan’s Lemonade Stand fundraising page at

Founded by Alex Scott (1996-2004) in 2004, Lemonade Days is a national event that grew out of Alex’s front yard lemonade stand. Held every June, an estimated 10,000 volunteers will host over 2,000 lemonade stands around the nation making a difference for children with cancer. Lemonade Days 2018 is set for June 2-10.
