Flags to be lowered in respect for deceased Va. firefighter James C. Ward

In accordance with the authority vested in the Governor of Virginia, Gov. Glenn Youngkin has ordered that the flags of the United States of America and the Commonwealth of Virginia be flown at half-staff on all state and local buildings and grounds in the Commonwealth of Virginia in memory of and respect for James C. Ward, a part-time Firefighter for the Virginia Department of Forestry, who tragically lost his life in the line of duty on March 30, 2024.

Youngkin was quoted as saying, “I hereby order that the flags shall be lowered at sunrise on Saturday, April 6, 2024, and remain at half-staff until sunset.”

Ordered on this, the 5th day of April 2024.

PW Police report passenger dies from injuries sustained in an April 15 traffic collision

The investigation revealed the driver of a 2012 Dodge Ram 2500 Pickup truck was traveling westbound on Yates Ford Rd. approaching Evans Ford Rd. when a 1993 Buick Roadmaster traveling eastbound on Yates Ford Rd. entered the intersection in front of the truck’s path of travel. The truck and Roadmaster collided within the intersection. The driver and female passenger of the Roadmaster were transported to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries. A Pug in the Roadmaster was declared deceased on scene.
