Aug. 15 Master Gardeners’ talk on what to plant next to streams and ponds

Virginia Cooperative Extension (VCE) and Master Gardeners are offering a presentation on “Planting the Right Trees, Shrubs and Perennials next to Streams and Ponds” on Tuesday, August 15 at 6 pm under the pavilion at Rady Park, 725 Fauquier Road, Warrenton, VA.

Tim Ohwiler, Horticulture Extension Agent will discuss plants that are good for planting in wet areas and their benefits to wildlife and water quality. Examples of different management styles will be explored. Please dress for walking on uneven ground and being outside.

“Planting the Right Trees, Shrubs and Perennials next to Streams and Ponds” presentation is part of the Fauquier/Rappahannock Master Gardeners’ Twilight Tuesdays program, a series of horticultural classes held from spring to fall each year for the community.

The classes are taught by horticultural experts and seasoned Master Gardeners and cover a broad range of topics – from gardening techniques and tips, to advances in environmental and conservation issues.  The series provides local gardeners with innovative gardening techniques and best practices that they can put to use in their own home gardens.

The program is free of charge and open to the public, rain or shine. It will last 60-90 minutes.  It is recommended to register and arrive early.

To RSVP or for additional information, please contact the Master Gardener Help Desk at 540-341-7950, Ext. 1 or .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address).

Master Gardeners are volunteers for the Virginia Cooperative Extension, who are dedicated to working with the community to encourage and promote environmentally sound horticulture practices.  For information on the Master Gardener program and upcoming events go to http://www.fc-mg.org
