Gov. Glenn Youngkin has ordered the flags of the United States of America and the Commonwealth of Virginia be flown at half-staff April 16 in memory and respect for the 17th Anniversary of the Virginia Tech shooting which took the lives of 32 people.

She strived to make math come alive for students and share how it applies to real-life situations. She was also determined to show students that math is not scary and help them believe that they are “math people.”

Newport News middle school teacher Chanda Woods is Region 2 Teacher of the Year
