Michael McKinney, 66, of Winchester, master mechanic, veteran, classic car buff, father of two

Michael Wayne McKinney, 66, of Winchester, VA passed away on Tuesday, July 17, 2018 at his home.

He was born on February 17, 1952 in Prince George’s County, MD, the son of Oscar A. and Annie Jane Ferguson McKinney. He served with the US Army during the Vietnam Era. He was a master mechanic working for Rick’s Auto Care.

Mike loved using his classic cars on road trips and at car shows, and raised money for MDS with his Pontiac Fiero. He was an avid reader. He loved history, landscaping, gardening, cooking and spending time with his family, especially his grandsons.
 
He married Connie Lou Querry on April 29, 1973 in Manassas, VA.

Along with his wife, Connie, of Winchester, he is survived by daughters, Michelle Lyn Buwalda (Gary) of Lorena, TX, and Jessica Ann McKinney–Land (Joshua) of Baltimore, MD; grandsons, Michael Buwalda, Thomas Buwalda and Ryan Buwalda, and brother, David Andrew McKinney of Nebraska.

A visitation will be held on Friday, July 20, 2018 from 1 to 2 p.m. at Victory Church with a funeral service following at 2 p.m. The family welcomes anyone to bring his or her classic car. Burial will be private.
