Linda Weintz, retired social worker in two counties, CASA advocate, mother

Linda Weintz, 70, of Warrenton, June 6, 2018 in Fairfax Inova Hospital where she was being cared for following a stroke.

She was born Feb. 13, 1948 in Montour Falls, NY to Frances and Minor Leonard. She graduated from Alfred Tech with an Associate degree in Secretarial Science in 1967 and then worked for the Central Intelligence Agency and a number of engineering firms in the Washington area. She earned a BS and MS in Social Work from George Mason and Catholic Universities in 1992 and 1993, respectively. She was a Social Worker for both Fairfax and Prince William Counties until 1997 when she retired and moved with her husband to the Northern Neck of Virginia and then to Florida.

During her retirement years, she volunteered as a court appointed special advocate with the CASA program in Virginia and the Guardian Ad Litem program in Florida, working tirelessly on behalf of foster children.  Linda was a dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother and recently returned to Virginia with her husband to be with family here. Linda was predeceased by her parents and by her grandson Matthew.

She is survived by her husband of 32 years, Elmer Mizuno of Warrenton, VA, her son, Jay Weintz of Nokesville, VA, his wife, Denise, their son, Mason, and her brothers Jim of Chevy Chase, MD, Jeff of Las Vegas, NV and nephews Jamahl and Johri Leonard of Concord, CA and Beau of Austria.

There will be no funeral. A memorial service-Celebration of Life will be held on July 14th.  Please contact .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) if you would like information about attending.
